Quality testing and compliance
HEALTH

Safety & Australian Compliance

At House of Kava, safety and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable. We believe transparency builds trust, and we want every customer and wholesale partner to know exactly what they are consuming and how it is regulated in Australia.

Noble Cultivars Only

We exclusively source noble kava varieties that have been traditionally selected for safety and quality over centuries.

Certificate of Analysis

Every batch is third-party tested. COAs are available upon request for wholesale partners.

Root-Only Policy

Only the lateral roots and root stumps are used. No aerial parts (leaves, stems) enter our supply chain.

FSANZ Compliant

All products meet Food Standards Australia New Zealand requirements for kava as a food product.

Kava Regulation in Australia

In December 2021, the Australian Government legalised the commercial importation of kava, subject to specific conditions. Kava is classified as a food product under FSANZ (Food Standards Australia New Zealand) and must meet strict requirements for import, labelling, and sale.

Key regulatory requirements include: kava must be derived from noble varieties of Piper methysticum; only the peeled root and rootstock may be used; products must be clearly labelled with origin, variety, and usage guidance; and import permits are required for commercial quantities.

Our Quality Commitment

House of Kava maintains relationships directly with farmers in Fiji and Vanuatu. Our on-ground team, including a dedicated kava specialist based in Fiji, oversees sourcing, quality selection, and processing before export. This direct oversight means we can guarantee the integrity of every kilogram we supply.

"We don't just import kava — we know exactly where it was grown, who farmed it, and how it was processed. That traceability is our promise."

Responsible Use

  • Do not combine kava with alcohol or other sedatives.
  • Consult your doctor before using kava if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.
  • Start with a moderate amount and understand how kava affects you personally before increasing intake.
  • Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after consuming kava.
